What is Proposition 65?

In 1986, the voters of California passed Proposition 65 also known as the Safe Water and Toxic Enforcement Act, which applies not only to water, but also to consumer goods sold in California. Proposition 65 requires the state of California to publish and maintain a list of chemicals knows to the state of California to cause cancer, birth defects, or other reproductive harm. The list is updated periodically and currently contains over 800 substances. The most recent list and other Prop 65 information are available on OEHHA’s website: https://www.p65warnings.ca.gov/
